SOCIAL INFORMATION:

- Current/Known Adversaries: The Villians of Gotham
ABILITIES:
Gordon is very well trained in hand to hand combat due to his time in the military. By his own account, he can defeat a Green Beret in physical combat. Also, Gordon is proficient in all aspects of criminal detective work, as well as keen instinct on the politics in regard to managing GCPD. Gordon is a proven leader and has shown a very strong will and an ability to maintain his mental fortitude and sanity.
STRENGTHS/WEAKNESSES:
Gordon is a man, plain and simple, and so he can be killed the same way most men can be. He has moderate strength level that is somewhat diminishing over time with age. Also has a heart condition brought on by a life time of smoking cigarettes.
BACKGROUND:
After his stint in the military, Jim Gordon went on to apply to the Gotham City Police Department. After finishing the academy, he spent a few years as a beat cop. It was during this time as a Sergeant that Jim met and comforted a young Bruce Wayne, pulling a coat over his shoulders, doing his best to "it'll be okay." A small caring gesture of a beat cop that would have lasting effects.
Sometime later, Jim was promoted to the rank of Detective-Sergeant. It was then that Jim Gordon became affiliated with the masked vigilante known as Batman. He saw how ineffective the police force had become with all of the corrupt cops and manipulations by the organized crime. And so, he placed his trust in Batman, the two formed a bit of an alliance.
With this alliance, the two helped save the city from The Scarecrow and the League of Shadows, with Jim being the one to stop the oncoming train that spelled Gotham's doom by shooting out one of the support structures, causing the train to crash before reaching its final destination. After this, Gordon was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant.
Since then, Gordon lead up a group of his most trusted allies, the GCPD Major Crime Unit, and with the help of newly appointed DA Harvey Dent, and also along side Batman. This trinity helped try to eradicate the new leaders of the crime gang left by Falcone's absence. But all doesn't go as planned due to a few inside agents in both Dent and Gordon's camps. After Batman returns the money launderer, Lau, the mob bosses get desperate and turn to a mass murdering psychopath named The Joker.
Joker's antics puts the entire city into a frenzy and many high profile Gothamites are killed, including Commissioner Loeb. At Loeb's funeral, Joker tries to kill The Mayor, but Gordon jumps in front of the bullet, seeming sacrificing himself. It was a ploy though, for Gordon to go undercover and managed to help capture The Joker. With Leob's rank being left open and Gordon's shown ability to lead, he is given the rank of Commissioner.
But all was not well, Joker's thugs managed to kidnap both Dent and Rachel Dawes. After Batman's interrogation of Joker about their whereabouts, both Batman and Gordon go and try to save them before time runs out. Batman is able to save Dent, but not without managing to burn half of his face off when the explosion does go off. Rachel wasn't so fortunate, as Gordon wasn't able to get there in time.
This event scarred Dent and twisted his mind, wanting those whom he feels were responsible for Rachel's death to be held accountable, including Gordon. While managing to stop The Joker's plan, the now Two-Face had kidnapped Gordon's son, James Gordon Jr. As Gordon and Batman both arrive to negotiate with Two-Face, he puts each of them up to what he believes is the only true morality is unbiased chance. Gordon is spared by coin flip, and Batman is shot. When flipping for James Jr.'s life, Batman runs at Two-Face, pushing him off the building and breaking his neck, seemingly killing him.
It was then, at that moment, that they made a choice. Only The Batman could do what needed to be done. He was to be Gotham's Dark Knight, as they laid the crimes that Two-Face had committed onto him, so that Dent could be raised up as a bastion of hope for the city. So, only three people know the truth behind Dent's death.
