PERSONAL INFORMATION:
- Real Name: Kent Nelson
- Alias: Doctor Fate
- P.O.B: Metropolis General Hospital
- Occupation: Lord of Order/Supernatural consultant
- Marital Status: Married
- Face Claim: Ewan McGregor
SOCIAL INFORMATION:
- Current Social Status: Hero
- Current/Known Associates: Inza Nelson
- Current/Known Adversaries: ??, ??
ABILITIES:
Doctor Fate's powers stem from the Helmet of Nabu, which he is bound to wear until he dies, and the Amulet of Anubis. The Helmet grants Kent incredibly powerful magical abilities. The extent of these powers is currently unknown, but Fate has demonstrated the ability to fly, transmute matter, project energy bolts, teleport both himself and other objects, and, as his name suggests, look into the future. The Amulet has the ability to capture any demonic lifeforms and send them back into the Netherworld.
STRENGTHS/WEAKNESSES:
Strengths: Fate is a master magician, thanks to the helmet. His understanding and knowledge of the arcane arts is almost second to none. Even without the helmet, he's a competent sorceror.
Weaknesses: Where he has skill in magic, he lacks in the actual combat department. He is terrible at any sort of close combat style, preferring, in his own words, "helmets to haymakers". He cannot see into his own future, and that scares him sometimes. Remove the helmet, and he just turns back into Kent.
BACKGROUND:
Doctor Fate's story begins millenia ago. In ancient Egypt, the wizard Nabu gained so much magical knowledge that he merged with the Aether and became the first Lord of Order, a warden against the etherial forces for darkness. Unfortunately, this meant that he was unable to hold a physical presence without an anchor point for his spirit. To that end, he tied his essence to his battle helmet, and would use a human host to enact his will.
Centuries later, Kent Nelson was born to a British archaeologist in Metropolis. Young Kent wasn't exactly keen to follow in daddy's footsteps. He would have rather been a writer than an archaeologist. Writing enthralled him much more. In an effort to change his mind, Kent's father took him to the valley of Ur in Mesopotamia, to explore a recently uncovered tomb. Kent mistakenly set off a trap that opened a coffin inside the tomb, but also released a poisonous white gas that claimed the life of his father. Kent would have suffered the same fate, were it not for the resurrected corpse of the last host of Nabu, who forced the helmet onto Kent, transforming him into the next host of Nabu's consciousness: Doctor Fate.
Kent served as Doctor Fate's conduit for almost a decade, during which he did not age. This was undone when a powerful demon known as Trigon stole the helmet, leaving Kent vulnerable. Fortunately, some of Nabu's knowledge had "bled" into his own mind, and he was able to retrieve the helmet from the demon, and banished it to the Nether. Nabu's consciousness seemed to recess from the helmet, allowing Kent to remain in control whenever he became Doctor Fate, though Nabu still offers guidance through telepathic whispers.
