ABILITIES:
John possesses one of the most powerful weapons in the universe: A Green Lantern ring. The ring is limited only by the will and imagination of its wielder. It is able to build energy constructs that hit as hard as the real thing.
STRENGTHS/WEAKNESSES:
The ring is not all powerful. It requires a charge daily to keep it running. So if the ring is not regularly charged it will run out of juice. Particulalry intense battles can also drain its power away. Also of not is if the wielder's will is somehow broken, the ring's constructs will be flimsy at best if the ring works at all.
Without the ring John is but a normal human. Without the protection of his ring he can be killed as easily as any other man.
BACKGROUND:
John Stewart was a architect from Detroit who went into the marines at a young age. There he was a sniper and undertook many missions. Eventually though John left the military and returned home to Detroit.
One day Stewart was approached by a floating green ring. It slipped itself onto his finger and brought him to the planet Oa. There John was initiated as the first Green Lantern from Earth. However this information isn't exactly common knowledge in the corps as he was used in deep cover missions by the Guardians.
Before he started taking on secret missions for the Guardians; John was trained by Sinestro. So when his former trainer eventually turned his back on the corps? Yeah you can imagine how personally this GL took that. So now that John's most recent deepc over mission has ended, he's looking to catch up with his old mentor and bring him to justice.
