Jeremiah has an extremely high IQ- he's also gifted in the medical field. He's of average as far as being a fighter goes, Doctor Arkham relies heavily on his wit and mind to get him out of [any] possible dangers. Arkham is very sly and is a master manipulator though, he's able to break the wills of even the strongest men to get them to sway to his side.
STRENGTHS/WEAKNESSES:
Very Intelligent, Jeremiah Arkham is a top tier psychiatrist that is very lethal with his mind and can easily play mind-tricks on people. He is however, not the toughest or sturdiest man in the world. He may be able to hold his own in a fight with an ordinary man, but he's no where near being able to fight with someone- anyone with experience. He's gotta be pushed to that though- Arkham feels violence is not needed, instead everything to do with evil or violence can be avoided with proper "treatment," to heal the sickness.
BACKGROUND:
Jeremiah Arkham is the great-nephew of Amadeus Arkham; the original owner and founder of Arkham Asylum. Driven by the will to succeed his great-uncle, Jeremiah keeps the asylum open as an alternative to those who are deemed unfit to be locked in any of the regular prisons across the United States.
From child-hood Jeremiah expressed interest in the mind- and how it worked as he was constantly around Amadeus, gaining interest. Known as Amadeus unofficial shadow, Jeremiah picked up a lot from Amadeus but also managed to craft his own form of psychology when dealing with the criminally insane.
That term, "criminally insane" is something Jeremiah buys into greatly, to the point where he and current mayor of Gotham; Anthony Garcia are at odds over the future of the Asylum. Many, including Mayor Garcia feels that Gotham's funding for Arkham Asylum isn't needed- it's a burden, while Jeremiah scoffs at the thought of housing 'criminally insane' patients.. Like Joker, in prison where they'll be without "help" to cure the sickness.
Some consider Jeremiah a humanitarian while others consider him a fraud that uses government and state funding as a way to upkeep his eccentric life style. Whatever it is, until concrete proof can be given, also until other facilities are developed that can properly contain the criminally insane.. Doctor Jeremiah Arkham and the Elizabeth Arkham Asylum for the Criminally Insane will be a sad staple in Gotham- one that's as eerie as anything else the city has to offer.
