For most people its unfathomable to be away from your home and everyone an everything you know for an extended period of time. John Stewart? He'd been away from his friends, family, and home for over a decade. In fact if he wasn't mistaken they'd declared him dead several years ago. Of course that was because most of them didn't know the truth. Hardly anyone on Earth knew John had joined the intergalatic peace-keeping force known as The Green Lanterns.
Key words there: Hardly anyone.
Stewart had a friend named Wally West. Long ago John confided in his friend before leaving Earth to undertake deep-cover missions for the Guardians. In the time that he'd been gone, Wally kept the rent paid up on John's loft in Detroit. Ya know; just in case his friend ever got back to Earth for a bit.
It was early evening when John arrived in Detroit. He landed near his building and once again hid the Green Lantern uniform. Now he was clad in a pair of jeans, a Barry Sanders jersey, pair of Nikes, and his dark shades. No one in his old neighborhood recognized John as he walked the street. He nodded ats ome and got blank stares. So with a shake of the head he went on into the building. That slow elevator ride was torture when he had a power-ring that could've taken him right up.
Ah! Home sweet.....home...
John had stepped off the elevator and into his loft. The place looked much the same as it did years ago. Hell there was still a Nintendo64 set up on the coffee table. But as much as this piece of property belonge dto John, it didn't really feel like his home anymore. Thatw as what Oa had actuallyc ome to symbolize in recent years. It was his quarters at the Green Lantern headquarters that felt like home. This? This was just a glimpse back in time.
Well I guess its time to get back to Oa...
What's the hurry Johnnie? Ya just got here.
Stewart spun around towards a window. His ring lit up and his uniform reappeared in place of his clothes. John was about to shine a light into teh shadows by the window, but then he didn't need to. The voice was famaliar enough. But when the yellow glow lit up and his old mentor stepped inot the light shining through the window..
Sinestro....What're you doin here?! You've got some nerve showing up at my home!
The green lantern barely waited for a response he shot a wall of solid green energy at Sinestro.
