Embrace the fear, it's destiny.
Leaving behind the Green Lantern Corps was an easy idea, Sinestro never had to think twice. Embracing the fear, that too was an easy decision especially with who the ring had selected in the human.. Kyle Rayner. The thought alone was disturbing, enough to allow Sinestro the feeling to give it all up, to look past the facade he had lived behind to see what the real matter at hand was -- control.
Somewhere in Space...
"Lord Sinestro, I bring word of a visitor."
One of the reasons Sinestro adopted the fear was because it was something he was a natural at -- instilling fear into the weak. Despite having an infinite range of will, it was the fear and the ability to cast it into people that made him powerful.
"Enlighten me."
Since leaving behind the green, Sinestro had grown much more irritable and much more ruthless. His usual destructive nature had been amplified, something that struck fear into anyone that thought of opposing him.
".. A human, my lord.. His name has been disclosed upon request.."
"So you preach failure? You fail to attain his name and you expect me to allow him to grace my presence?"
He definitely was not amused with the turn of events -- the messenger knew this and bowed his head.
"I am sorry Lord, I will repair the situation."
Before the messenger could leave, a HUGE anvil appeared out of the yellow power ring on Sinestro's finger and within seconds the anvil dropped -- smashing the messenger beneath it, killing him upon contact. As if nothing had happened, Sinestro kept his head cocked back.
"Rexk, tell this human that we will meet, but it will be on my terms. If I am so lucky, this will be a human that is interested in extinguishing the embarrassment race he shares bond with."
A scaly, purple colored alien with jet-black eyes didn't even blink but disappeared in a stream of yellow.
"The need to destroy the emerald power grows by the day.. The Lantern on Earth will die, and he will die soon. Once we begin the Emerald Ring Purge, we will takeover portion by portion until we are the most feared Corp in ANY galaxy."
Before him the yellow ring formed a replica of the planet Earth a portion of the sector that the Green Lantern protected specifically. The globe turned and turned as a few other Sinestro Corps formed around their undisputed leader.
"We will destroy Earth and enjoy watching it crumble."
As if a cookie had been ripped apart and fell to crumbs, that's what the yellow replica of Earth did. Sinestro fired off a wicked grin as he brought both arms over his chest -- the scheming process would begin -- apparently, Earth.. Was.. Next.

Today was not a good day so far for your friendly neighborhood intergalactic peacekeeper. It was raining at home, with thunderstorms incoming. Kyle didn't exactly want to fly around when it was very likely he'd get hit by a lightning bolt (even though he wasn't grounded. Kyle never really paid attention in science class). So he took to the great beyond instead, rocketing off into space to patrol the sector in general, see if anything was happening. "God, this place is boring." Kyle muttered. The supervillains never gave half a shit about the rest of his sector; they only seemed to attack Earth in earnest. Kyle had half a mind to think it was because he lived there. He was on his way back to Earth after dealing with some diplomatic thing on Saturn, someone was mad at someone else resulting in a hostage situation, and he was taking his time. At the moment he was coming up with a new costume for the Emeralder, knowing that he needed to change it around at least a little bit. Then he felt it. The yellow stink of the Sinestro Corps. "Oh fuck." Kyle muttered as he flipped his body around (he'd been floating in sort of a reclined position) and created a rocket strapped to his back, firing off toward Earth. If the Sinestro Corps was here, that meant there was a high chance the man himself would put in an appearance. With Sinestro at the forefront, the Yellow Corps were a formidable foe for the entire Green Corps. He was no match for them alone.

Feeling as if there was no throne fit for him, he made one from the fear power ring, one decorated with crowns of kings that he had either banished or destroyed during his crusade to rid the galaxy of the weak. With his arms across his chest still, his less-then-impressed facial motion expressed the emotion he currently felt.
"I sense.. Fear, is that The Lantern en route to Earth? Did his little will inspired toy give him an impulse of fear- are the Guardians guiding his 'free-will,' again?"
The hate he had for the Guardians on Oa had never been transparent, many couldn't understand why they even granted Sinestro a power ring in the first place. His ideas and views were not pure, it was tainted because he cared not to serve justice, he rather punish and obliterate.
"Let the human run to his planet, its of no use. When I decide to move in and cripple it, there will be of no use. His toy ring is amusing to say the least.. But preparations are being made to finish off what was started."
Sinestro's confidence was unparalleled and he knew it. Levitating off of the throne, the energy returned back into his ring as he stood tall before his inner-circle as now a MASSIVE telescope formed, he peaked into it and forged a smile.
"It would be an insult to insects to compare humans to ants. Scurrying around, blind in their ways to their pending extermination. Quite possibly, it could be the best thing for their young race before they end up destroying each other.. Earth.. Such potential, such waste.."
Keeping his eye on Earth was a favorite past time of Sinestro ever since he embraced the fear and left behind the emerald colored energy. He was totally against Kyle Rayner being granted a power ring, he felt as if the Guardians had finally sold out -- they lost their way and vision of how space should be monitored. Diminishing the weak was of importance to maintan the peace and balance in the galaxy, when weak need not exist, trouble was limited -- but humans? They were weak, Rayner was definitely weak. Earth would be a war-ground soon enough, preparations on the pending strike was being made..

Kyle stopped around Earth's orbit, and looked around, trying to pinpoint where the the servants of the man who had harnessed the yellow power of Fear were hiding. He soon found something, creating a pair of binoculars to get a better look. He saw a Yellow Lantern peering into a huge telescope. "The man himself. I'm honored, really." Kyle muttered to himself upon realizing it was Sinestro himself peering into the telescope. To be completely honest, he was scared. He'd fought off two Yellow Lanterns before, but now he was confronting their boss. He knew they would probably feed on his fear, though. "In brightest day, in blackest night, no evil shall escape my sight. Let those who worship evil's might, beware my power, Green Lantern's light!" Kyle recited, as a confidence and power booster. His costume began visibly glowing green as he continued to psych himself up.

"Aw, the Oath -- these Lanterns are so adorable -- yet so foolish."
Contrary to what Rayner believed, the ploy was unfolding and he was biting. The giant yellow telescope? The bright yellow lantern? In space? It was all on purpose, Sinestro knew it'd attract the attention of the youthful and stupid human Lantern -- which would easily draw the attention of others. He wanted to draw as much as he could into one area -- all in a way to destroy them once and for all.
"It seems as if Kyle Rayner's attention has been attracted, excellent. He knows of our presence, now we just wait for the reinforcements before we finalize a strike to finish off the Lanterns -- the fear will light the way."
The purple, scaly alien from earlier -- Rexk was essentially Sinestro's messenger. Due to his quick absence to alert the human guest of Sinestro's plans, Rexk had re-appeared and carried a scroll in his hand, as he called out to Sinestro.
"Sir, I have a written message from our guest."
"I suppose an apology would be proper."
Leaving the telescope formulated, branching out from the ring also was an additional hand as it grabbed the scroll from Rexk -- bringing it towards Sinestro. Opening the scroll up to the side, the hand turned into a table to support the scroll's placement down which allowed Sinestro to read it to himself. A few seconds passed as the table turned into a yellow blaze that parched the paper, letting it fall into ashes as the fire returned within the ring.
"Pass a message on to our guest -- tell him that I would obliged to his request. Assure that he understands I will get to business as soon as we deal with our strangler of an ex-ally in the Lantern. There will no doubt be blood spilled and lives lost but it is the way of the fear. Go."
In a blink of an eye, the yellow blur soared past the other Sinestro Corp members as the telescope disappeared -- the energy returned into the ring as the same throne was formed not too far from where Sinestro peered into space as he took a seat. The other corp-members watched on.
"As I promised, I will enlighten my followers. The emerald ring bearers are not the only ones that has an Oath to unlock total potential of the greatest gift given.."
Clenching his fist, the symbol on his ring glowed with that sinister yellow hue as his eyes followed the trend.
"Before we face the pending war, I will bestow you with that potential unlocking.. As you will make an Oath -- not to the ring, but to I - your lord, your master. Your oath will be to Sinestro."
Surrounding Sinestro's entire body and throne the yellow hue had magnified and was a spectacular sight. His eyes also glowed -- but the ring, the ring seemed to have a life of it's own. As the rest of his Corps stood around and took a kneel in the presence of pure power -- they knew that sacrifices needed to be made and for their lord? They would gladly do so.

About ten seconds after the Lanterns kneeled, Kyle contacted Oa. "It looks like just about every single Yellow Lantern has gathered here in Earth's orbit. Sinestro's here too. Backup is appreciated." "Understood. We'll send a squadron your way, but they'll take a minute to get there." Kilowog, who had been the one to receive Kyle's message, replied. "Tell 'em to haul ass. I'm going in." Kyle replied. "It's your funeral, rookie." Kilowog replied. Kyle cut the transmission, and flew towards the congregation of Lanterns. He conjured a minigun on each arm and opened fire when he got within about 20 yards, scattering the Yellow Lanterns like the coward they were and even taking out a few before they began throwing up shields. "Did you miss me, you coward?" Kyle directly addressed Sinestro.

"Hm, allow me to fill you with knowledge, human. I know this concept might hurt due to how ignorant your race is but it's for the better."
In a blink of an eye the surroundings changed -- things went from a typical open area to a HUGE yellow hued dome that resembled a cage. From the outside looking in was several of the Sinestro Corps as sitting at his throne still was Sinestro, he had no sense of panic and/or worry within him. Allowing the smug smile to keep across his face he sighed lightly.
"First, I hope you understand that you didn't manage to 'stumble' onto our whereabouts, I allowed you to see us. In fact, I *wanted* you to see us. The time for fun and games is over Kyle Rayner, The Doomsday Clock has struck once too many times and is calling your name."
From the outside of the yellow dome created from Sinestro's power ring, a slow -- methodical chant from the Sinestro Corps who suddenly appeared to be -- figments of Sinestro's mind. More begun to populate around the dome this was all as the chanting continued, all the voices -- far more than could be counted all in unison.
"In Blackest Day, In brightest night.. Beware your Fears Made into Light.. Let those who try to stop what's right.. Burn like my power.. Sinestro's Might!"
"Secondly, your oath? I hope you understand upon going under oath you sell your soul and give up your freedom of will to the Guardians. How else do you think you are able to amplify your power, human? It's because they become you and you lose your true self.. So.. So.. Foolish."
Still making no move to attempt any sort of action against Rayner, the chanting grew louder.. and louder. The cage? It grew smaller and smaller by the minute as Sinestro kept his composure and calm still
"And finally? To 'miss' you would imply I have any emotional attachment to you -- which in essence would make me afraid.. So tell me Kyle Rayner.. Struggling comic book artist that can barely formulate a picture with a pen and a paper but overestimates his ability against the great Sinestro.. What.. Do.. You.. Fear?."
The yellow hue was as powerful as it had ever been, Sinestro's eyes glowed with that intense power as his jaw twitched a few times -- but it looked like he still wasn't giving forth any efforts in the creations from the ring. The chanting amplified, the dome minimized all as Sinestro seemed to grow stronger.
"Confide me in Lantern.."
His mocking tone hit an all-time high now as he allowed his arms to move away from across his chest and to sit on the arm rests of the throne as his feet? It was propped up on a new object constructed from his diabolical mind...
"Look familiar? Such a great foot-rest.. You? I think your skull as an ashtray will look good for what will remain of your truly pathetic self."
.. Maura Rayner; Kyle's deceased mother's decapitated head was beneath Sinestro's feet as the red skinned alien just gazed in Kyle's direction wanting to see what would be done to him. Sinestro wasn't held as the greatest Green Lantern because he crafted Christmas ornaments from the ring -- it was because his will and ability to fight was unparalleled. Pressing his foot down into Maura's decapitated head- busting through the upper portion of her skull, Sinestro kept that smirk blazing.

Kyle's anger blazed for a moment, then he realized Sinestro was probably just trying to get at him. It was probably just a very, very convincing construct Sinestro made from his ring. "Nice trick. It's quite convincing, really." Kyle said. He dismissed the miniguns on his arms and replaced them with a gigantic laser cannon, which he aimed at a point about 8 yards to Sinestro's left, allowing the cannon to charge for a moment before firing a huge blast, with the intent of breaking the dome. He needed to stall for time so the other Lanterns could show up. The Yellow Lanterns in the path of his shot scattered like rats when he fired, diving to the sides or taking to the skies. He flew through the hole he'd created, and dismissed the cannon.

"Why retreat? Isn't this what you wanted?"
The dome was dismissed from existence as a barrier formed from the will of the ring appeared in front of Rayner, giving Sinestro enough time to travel across the scene whilst remaining in his throne and darted to Rayner's left all as he kept his arms extended on the arm-rest.
"It was you that found us, WAS IT NOT?!"
Almost in a shouting manner, Sinestro's voice boomed as he was about ten yards away from Rayner. His eyes glowed with that crazy shade of yellow again as the ring was beginning to flare up with the same intense color.
"Your corpsman can't help you Rayner, do you know why?.."
With another blink of an eye, the area that they were in now was a shot of the planet of Oa -- the huge Green Lantern logo that the general of the corps would use as am amphitheater had been dismantled. Bodies upon bodies was scattered through the scene all face down in a ritualistic manner.l
"There is none left to save you. You were fooled by constructs of the ring, the Sinestro Corps made a move to attack Oa and was successful apparently."
Sinestro's words were kept in the mocking tone as he showed absolutely no sign of caring whatsoever. His destiny to embrace the fear of the ring -- it was utterly amazing. If there was one man or woman in the galaxy that was born to weld that power ring and harness it's ability -- it was Sinestro by far. Everything still had a bright yellow hue to it -- the scene before Rayner, that is. Almost as if they were looking through a huge plate glass window, Sinestro dismissed the throne and levitated in the air with his arms crossed over his chest.
"It would not be so pleasant of me to allow you leave without giving you what you seek. You feel the need to destroy me, I am a coward, am I not? What you consider a coward is what I call manifest destiny and you Kyle Rayner? Your destiny -- or lack thereof.. is.. over."
A yellow hue surrounded Sinestro as he kept the vision up of what had 'occurred' to the planet of Oa. The ring continued to burn with energy as Sinestro tilted his head to the left.
".. Is that it? Is that what the aroma in the air is? Is.. Your fear, is it being alone? Loneliness?!"
Sinestro's eyes glowed again as the energy in the air seemed to grow by the second. Glaring at the Green Lantern, Sinestro formed a carbon copy of himself that appeared on Rayner's left- holding the upper torso -- but headless Maura Rayner as suddenly to Rayner's right was another copy of Sinestro, this one holding the lower torso of Maura.
"This is your destiny human. You were never capable of wearing the ring, you are an utter embarrassment! You bring shame to the power, you are a puppet, nothing more. Time has come to cut those strings that hang above your head and reveal you to be the helpless little insect that you were born to be! LOOK AT YOUR MOTHER AND DENY MY WORDS, RAYNER! ACCEPT YOUR FATE! FEED ME YOUR FEAR!"
His voice boomed as if it was coming from the heavens as Sinestro's true self kept his position directly in front of Rayner. Many whispers of how powerful Sinestro was had been near folklore but this Green Lantern? He saw it for himself in person, and things were definitely not as they seemed.

Kyle calmly glanced to his left, then to his right, then stared at Sinestro. Hate burned in his eyes, as two huge green fists appeared and crushed the two copies. "Do you really think you can win?" Kyle said, beginning to slowly walk forward toward Sinestro. "Do you think killing my mother would scare me? Would make me bend the knee to you? Of all people, you?" A huge apparatus appeared, a harness, two miniguns on his shoulders, two on his hips, and two on his hands. "All that does is prove how much of a coward you are. You kill my mother, but all that does is make me all the more determined to kill you so damn dead that there won't be enough of you left to even view under an electron microscope. You kill my comrades You have just sealed your own doom." And with that, Kyle opened fire with all 6 guns. The hail of green bullets was so thick, even if Sinestro had managed to compress himself to the width of you average sheet of paper, he would have still come out looking like Swiss cheese.

"Experience and knowledge, I'm the perfect prototype."
A wicked, blinding flash of yellow energy erupted before Rayner as one of the most powerful weapons in existence could tap into different energy sources and this one? An intense blast of heat which disintegrated the bullets upon being thought of by Sinestro. Dashing behind Rayner whilst using unexpected flash as a guise, Sinestro formed a huge energy based sword that extended from his shoulder up over his hand that ended with an extremely pointed tip.
"You are an amateur, you are NO match for me."
Before he could use the energy based sword -- he stopped in mid motion as he levitated up into the air above Rayner.
"You are impure. Death? How quick you are angered? You are exactly what I'm talking about, you're a contradiction to that very energy source on your finger. Not only are you a hypocrite, you're an instrument, you're a poorly designed vessel. Slaughtering you will be of no use, you are no threat to me or my intent."
The 'planet of Oa' with the lifeless corpses that surrounded them both? It phased out and the original scene, just an ordinary astral plane came to be as they were back in reality.
"This was a learning exercise Kyle Rayner. I learned much about you and your flawed will, I need not worry of what you can do. You are predictable and poorly generic. Firearms? Bullets? With all the power at your disposal you form things as easily waved off as that? HA! The Guardians on Oa will most likely be disappointed with your poor excuse to top me, Needless to say I used not even a fourth of my ability to embarrass you, to make you look like the true novice you are."
Winking at Rayner, Sinestro dissipated, nothing but a yellow energy flash was left of his presence -- but his parting gift? An image of Kyle Rayner in yellow, a poorly constructed one. When it spoke, it held Sinestro's voice at it's tongue.
"You failed your exam human. Pass the knowledge you learned of me onto your superiors, I care not. There is nothing you or those outdated information having imbeciles can do to thwart the genesis of a new era. This is your reflection Kyle Rayner.."
The constructed image of Kyle Rayner shattered into a million pieces as if a rock had hit it in the center as a copy of the ring appeared to be floating where the image once stood.
"Your only hope for salvation to allow the ring to select a truly powerful host. You waste it's ability, I would not even offer you a ring in my corps.. You are, as your human race say.. A joke. A punchline. An example of how weak the Green Lantern Corps truly is -- thank you for proving my point."
And it vanished, just as Sinestro had done. He had the ability to mask his costume to black when needed -- being absent of color made it easy for him to vanish into the black colored skies that outer-space offered.. Leaving Rayner there on his own.

Kyle dismissed the six miniguns, and simply stood there, stewing. The green light that signaled the arrival of his comrades was a welcome sight. "You okay, rookie?" Kilowog asked, clapping Kyle on the shoulder. "Fine. I'm just in the mood to tear Sinestro a few new assholes." Kyle replied, "I know the feeling." Tomar-Re, one of his fellow Lanterns, replied. "He was desecrating my mother's body." Kyle said. "Sinestro's always been good with constructs. That was probably just a really convincing one." Kilowog said. "You did good, rookie." "He was saying I'm weak. I'm a joke." Kyle said. "Are you feeling bad because you weren't able to beat someone who the entire Corps together has trouble defeating? Cheer up." Tomar-Re said. "I suppose that is a good point." Kyle replied. Then his stomach growled. "We'll clean up here. Got get yourself some food." Kilowog said, smiling. "Thanks." Kyle said, then zipped off toward Coast City.

As the current assigned Green Lantern of sector 2814 zipped off, the others began cleaning up from the battle. Kyle had done quite an admiral job holding his own against one of the corps worst enemies. But it was about time he met with someone who knew Sinestro a little better.
The other lanterns were almost done when a familar bright green glow approached from behind them. They turned around and each wore a surprised look upon their face.
Kilowag: John? What're yous doin back in these parts? Thought yous was on a deep cover assignment.
JS: I was, but the mission has been complete. Was on my wya back to Oa when I heard the new kid's distress call. Would've been here sooner but my ring needed a recharge. How'd the kid do?
Tomar: Pretty good. He managed to stall Sinestro long enough for us to get in range.
Killowag: Yeah, o' course your ole pal jetted when he knew I was comin'.
John Stewart, the first human Green Lantern though it wasn't widely known in the corps, shot a look at Killowag. Of course the big guy meant nothing by his comment but Sinestro's betrayal of the corps still affected John personally. I mean Sinestro had only been the guy who trained John to be a Green Lantern. More than that what started out as just a student and teacher became a strong friendship. That is until Sinestro turne dhis back on the corps. He turned away from everything that he ever taught John so yeah Stewart took that a lil personally.
JS: Well I think its time that I met the new guy. Sinestro doesn't usually make a move without some kind of plan. He has a reason for everything...
And with that John headed off after Kyle Rayner. This kid, the new lantern, was impressing some people in the corps. Even in his deep cover mission John had heard of the guy. So he was looking forward to meeting him. More than that though he wante dto know what Sinestro was up to.
